Dog birthday ideas: eight ways to celebrate, and one to keep.
They don't know what day it is. You do, and you're the one who will remember it ten years from now. Here are simple ideas, from the ones they enjoy to the ones that last.
1. A cake they can eat
Dog cake is easy: banana, oats and xylitol-free peanut butter, or wet food blended with a little kibble. No chocolate, grapes, onion or sweeteners. The candle is for the photo; blow it out before serving. If you're unsure about an ingredient, ask the vet; they answer fast.
2. The walk they've never done
A new trail, the beach (where allowed), a park across town. For a dog, a new smell is a big present. Bring water and head back before they tire.
